Thick slices of cabbage are caramelized to perfection in the oven and topped with a luscious garlic herb butter for a rich, savory finish. Ingredients:

  • 1 medium green cabbage
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp lemon zest

 

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cabbage Steaks:
    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Slice the cabbage into 1-inch thick rounds, keeping the core intact to hold the slices together.
    • Arrange the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Roast the Cabbage:
    • Roast the cabbage slices in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
    • Flip them over and continue roasting for another 10–15 minutes until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
  • Make the Garlic Herb Butter:
    • In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, thyme, and lemon zest.
    • Mix until well combined.
  • Serve:
    • Remove the cabbage steaks from the oven and immediately spread a dollop of garlic herb butter on each slice.
    • Let it melt and soak into the cabbage.
    • Serve warm and enjoy!
