Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Bacon:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crispy, about 5–7 minutes. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon grease in the skillet.
  2. Sauté Onion and Garlic:
Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Cook the Cabbage:
Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet, stirring to coat in the bacon grease. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized, about 10–12 minutes.
  4. Season and Combine:
Sprinkle in the smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss the crispy bacon back into the skillet and mix well.
  5. Serve:
Remove from heat and serve hot as a side dish or a hearty main course.
